ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF CERVICAL SPINE

 

This course focuses on an advanced, clinically oriented approach to cervical spine assessment and management, integrating osteopathic and chiropractic manual therapy principles with clinical reasoning, movement science, and the Regional Interdependence Approach.

 

1. Advanced understanding of cervical spine anatomy, biomechanics and functional movement.

 

2. Systematic clinical assessment of the cervical spine using evidence-informed examination strategies.

 

3. Development of clinical reasoning skills for patients presenting with cervical spine dysfunction and neck pain.

 

4. Clinical differentiation of mechanical, articular, muscular and neurogenic presentations.

 

5. Identification of red flags, precautions and contraindications relevant to cervical spine management.

 

6. Assessment of cervical active and passive range of motion and interpretation of clinically relevant findings.

 

7. Evaluation of segmental mobility and identification of cervical joint dysfunction.

 

8. Integration of posture, movement patterns and functional examination into cervical spine assessment.

 

9. Clinical assessment of the upper, middle and lower cervical regions.
