This comprehensive 4-hour course is designed for healthcare practitioners and students seeking to integrate dry needling into their clinical practice. Emphasizing sports and orthopedic applications, the course provides foundational knowledge and practical skills to perform dry needling safely and effectively. Participants will learn to address musculoskeletal conditions across various patient populations, enhancing their therapeutic toolkit.


Learning Objectives

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the indications, contraindications, and complications associated with dry needling.

  • Review pertinent functional anatomy, including muscles, skeleton, vascular system, and lung fields using palpation and bony landmarks.

  • Define dry needling and differentiate it from acupuncture.

  • Describe the local and systemic mechanisms and effects of dry needling.

  • Demonstrate and practice basic dry needling techniques for the whole body (excluding pelvic floor and face).

  • Apply clinical reasoning during patient history, examination, and treatment.

  • Implement dry needling in sports and orthopedic patient populations.

  • Extrapolate evidence-based practices to various patient demographics.
