Course Overview

Course Description Basic Level -1 (More Demonstrations & Practice) 

In this 6 hours online interactive certification course, Dr Stephen will explain all the basics and demonstrations of Dry Needling. ISOMT’s Basic Dry Needling Course is designed to take the average healthcare practitioner or student through this 6 hour course, that is extensive and exhaustive covering all the pertinent information that will enable an individual to begin practicing dry needling safely, confidently, and effectively as part of a holistic treatment approach for their particular patient population.
 
A sports and orthopedic emphasis will be given, in addition to a discussion on extrapolating this information to various populations, diagnoses, and age-ranges.  
All the course written materials and video recordings will be given to participants

Course Objectives:

  • Review Indications and Contraindications for Dry Needling
  • Review pertinent functional anatomy including muscles, skeleton, vascular system, lung fields using palpation and bony landmarks. 
  • Define Dry Needling and review its history.
  • Distinguish Dry Needling from other similar treatments (acupuncture) 
  • Describe the local and systemic mechanisms and effects of Dry Needling
  • Demonstrate and practice Basic Dry Needling for the whole body (excludes pelvic floor and face)
  • Clinical reasoning pertaining to the application of Dry Needling during the history and examination and treatment of a patient
  • Describe clinical applications for Dry Needling in sports & orthopedic patients
  • Extrapolate the evidence to any potential Dry Needling patient.
 
ISOMT’s Basic Dry Needling Course is designed to take the average healthcare practitioner or student through a 2-day course Sat- Sun, 3 hours each, for a total of 6 hour course that is extensive and exhaustive covering all the pertinent information that will enable an individual to begin practicing dry needling safely, confidently, and effectively as part of a holistic treatment approach for their particular patient population.
 
A sports and orthopedic emphasis will be given, in addition to a discussion on extrapolating this information to various populations, diagnoses, and age-ranges.
